Illinois Author Tops Local Sales during Holiday Shopping Rush
Bloomington, IN - Tom Oestreicher's new book, Present and Accounted For, recently surpassed sales of all other books at the DeKalb, Ill., Barnes & Noble. Published by AuthorHouse, the world's leading provider of self-publishing services, this thrilling novel follows four researchers on a scientific quest to discover the fates of 23 lost Civil War soldiers.
From Dec. 15 to Dec. 24, Oestreicher sold 396 copies of his book, surpassing thousands of other authors during the coveted holiday shopping period. He serves as an exceptional example of the potential for self-published authors to market themselves - he recently sold 600 copies of his book in just 10 days. His success has also prompted other bookstores in the area to carry Present and Accounted For.
"People call me an author and that is so special to me," Oestreicher said. "I never dreamed all this could happen to me and my story."
Set in his hometown of Sycamore, Ill., Present and Accounted For tells the gripping story of how four researchers use modern technology to unravel a 130-year-old mystery. As they dig deeper into the case, they discover that the government is trying to suppress their findings and keep a conspiracy hidden. The story is a compelling mix of American history, technological breakthroughs and pure adrenaline.
Oestreicher is currently working on the sequel to Present and Accounted For, with a release date slated for early April. The author, a high school history teacher, and his wife, Marilyn, also own and operate Tommy O's Family Restaurants in Sycamore, Ill.
