he Government acknowledged that Objectivity/DB, the company'ss flagship product, is a crucial piece of a widely deployed, mission-critical analytics system (http://www.objectivity.com/pages/GF/gate1.aspsource='s38;campaign='s38;kk='s38;doc=http://www.objectivity.com/pages/downloads/whitepaper/pdf/Objectivity_ProductSheetForSecurityAndIntel.pdf's38;h1=Solving%20The%20Most%20Demanding%20Data%20Management%20Challenges%20for%20Government). Although Objectivity has been working with the U.S. Government (USG) since 1998, and its technology solution has been operational within the system for more than seven years, the USG has never publicly acknowledged the critical role that Objectivity/DB plays.
The full text of the document is quoted here, verbatim:
The Government would like to recognize Objectivity DB'ss key role in the success of a widely deployed mission-critical analytical system. The system permits hundreds [of concurrent users
to perform analysis on billions of objects stored in Objectivity DB. The system has been operational for more than seven years at multiple Government agencies and has scaled in data
volume several orders of magnitude over the original federation. It is in round-the-clock use and over its lifetime has had virtually no unplanned downtime.
Objectivity DB was selected as the result of a comparative analysis and the selection has been validated over years of operational use by Objectivity DB'ss scalability, robustness,
performance, and flexibility. In addition, experience with the development of the application software supports the contention that the object-orientation of the database management
system leads to a much more natural model for the data repository, greater productivity for the developers, and greater efficiency from the lack of need for an object-oriented translation
layer.
Also significant to the success of the program has been the responsiveness of the engineering support team of Objectivity Inc. The appropriate levels of Objectivity technical expertise
have been readily accessible to the Government'ss designers and developers.
As the program faces significant challenges in the years ahead to meet ambitious growth and mission goals, the Government is confident that Objectivity DB will remain a critical piece of
the solution. (end quote)
For Objectivity'ss president and CEO Jay Jarrell, who was involved in the project since its inception, the acknowledgment is a particularly satisfying accomplishment.
We are proud that our enabling technology has had such a significant impact in helping our government partners achieve their high-end analytics requirements, Jarrell said. By using
Objectivity/DB for these mission-critical applications, developers and users alike realize substantial reductions in development and ongoing operations and management costs.
Jarrell anticipates that adoption of Objectivity/DB will increase as the industry increasingly requires database technologies that will scale to meet the ever-growing amount of complex
data (http://www.objectivity.com/pages/objectivity/database_technology.asp) generated by government
agencies.
Our unique database technology enables these types of mission-critical data analytics systems, as well as other situational awareness, complex fusion, and information sharing applications
used by our government customers, to scale not just for today'ss information load, but for tomorrow'ss high-end requirements as well, Jarrell said. We are committed, ready, and able to
meet those requirements for the future.
