Eduventures Names Peter Stokes Chief Research Officer

Eduventures, Inc., the leader in shared-cost, data-driven research and consulting for higher education , has appointed Peter J. Stokes, Ph.D., the company's current Executive Vice President, to Chief Research Officer. Moving forward, Stokes will serve Eduventures in both capacities.

As Chief Research Officer, Stokes will be responsible for the management of Eduventures' eight member-based Learning Collaboratives: Academic Leadership, Continuing and Professional Education, Development, Enrollment Management, Online Higher Education, Schools of Education, Student Affairs, and Summer Sessions.

"As our members embrace more and more of our eight Learning Collaboratives, we have come to recognize the need for increased integration and centralization of our service offerings," said Tom Dretler, President and CEO of Eduventures. "While each of our Learning Collaboratives focus on a specific academic area, supporting our members institutionally is becoming increasingly important. Centralizing leadership of our research divisions under Peter will allow us to do just that and will enable our members to take better advantage of our Collaboratives - individually and collectively."

A recognized expert on issues related to both education policy and practice, Stokes was named one of " higher education 's new generation of thinkers" by The Chronicle of Higher Education. Since 1998, Stokes has played a central role in guiding Eduventures' research programs and has been a key member of its leadership team.

In addition to providing overall strategic direction for Eduventures' research divisions, Stokes will tap his extensive experience in higher education to help guide the development of research topics and methodologies, and to ensure consistency and uniformity of research outputs across all eight Learning Collaboratives.

Prior to joining Eduventures, Stokes was Manager of the industry research group at Daratech, Inc, an information technology research firm. He has also held teaching positions at Tufts University and the Massachusetts College of Art. Stokes holds a B.A. and Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
