The Annual Conference on Financial Education was established by the Institute in 2006, and is now in its third year. The Conference provides professional development and networking opportunities for individuals interested in financial literacy education. The Conference also offers attendees the opportunity to learn about current trends in financial education, develop funding strategies for financial literacy programs and advance the cause of financial education.
The theme of the 2008 Annual Conference on Financial Education is "Financial Education in a Changing Economy." As predictions of economic difficulty continue throughout 2008 and 2009, the demand for financial literacy education is expected to increase. The goal of the 2008 Conference will be to prepare participants for this increasing demand. The 2008 Conference will be held in Atlanta, Georgia and conference sessions will address the changing credit environment, long term financial strategies, risk management and program evaluation.
"We are very excited that Ms. McCrackin will be offering the Welcoming Remarks at The Annual Conference on Financial Education" said Leslie E. Linfield, Executive Director of the Institute for Financial Literacy. "In addition to her role in the Atlanta Federal Reserve, Ms. McCrackin has been a staunch advocate of financial literacy education through her work with Junior Achievement, the Georgia Council for Economic Education and the Georgia Consortium for Personal Financial Literacy. Ms. McCrackin's comments will set the tone of this year's Annual Conference and no doubt energize the attendees in the important work they do."
