The Baccalaureate School for Global Education Receives Authorization from the International Baccalaureate Organization



May 18, 2005 -- The Baccalaureate School for Global Education (BSGE) received authorization as an International Baccalaureate World School in April 2005. BSGE is the first New York City public middle-high school (grades 7-12) which has created a whole school International Baccalaureate program. Founded in September 2002, BSGE provides a world-class educational experience aligned with the frameworks and standards of the International Baccalaureate Program. All students who successfully complete the course of study will earn the International Baccalaureate Diploma.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Program is a rigorous college preparatory course of study that meets the needs of highly motivated secondary school students. The IB diploma allows graduates to fulfill requirements of national education systems worldwide, incorporating the best elements of each and providing access for admission to universities internationally. BSGE's student body is compromised of an ethnically diverse and economically varied population of young people from different neighborhoods in Queens, which include Jamaica, Forest Hills, Corona, Astoria, Kew Gardens, Woodside, Laurelton, Rosedale, Far Rockaway, Queens Village, Hollis, Richmond Hill, Middle Village, South Ozone Park, Jackson Heights, Rego Park and Long Island City.
