New Free Alternative to the High Fees of Board Review for Medical Students

Since medical licensing in the United States requires many years of challenging study and training followed by difficult board exams, many students pay high fees for short-term access to board review quizzes and tests before taking the critical US Medical Licensing board Exams, the USMLEs. Now there is a website where students can prepare for each step of the USMLE for free, StepPrep.com.

"It was such a struggle for me and my family to finance medical school," says Stephen Fitzmeyer, MD, Founder/CEO/CIO of StepPrep.com. "Board prep. courses are very expensive and the review websites charge by the month. These high fees for short-term access to study aids were difficult to face. Many students are completely cut-off from these resources."

Dr. Fitzmeyer had worked in the computer industry for twenty years before entering medical school. He started StepPrep.com as a personal study aid for USMLE test preparation. As its popularity has steadily increased, Dr. Fitzmeyer has continued to expand the website. "A new site, with many more features, was just launched July 1, 2005 and the response has been phenomenal," says Dr. Fitzmeyer. In addition to the new site, Dr. Danny Burns, MD, Ph.D., has joined StepPrep.com as the Director of Online Education. Dr. Burns brings seventeen years of teaching at the medical school level. Dr. Fitzmeyer and Dr. Burns continue to expand the online quizzes and tests for future-physicians preparing to take the USMLEs. StepPrep.com is completely free and offers unlimited access.
