The history of time is so vast that it's8217;s easy to be confused about what happened when.

Now Terry Sissons has made these immense stretches of time intelligible to almost everyone. In this elegant and eloquent little book, The Big Bang to Now: A Time Line, she's8217;s taken the most important events since time began more than 13 billion years ago and broken time down into intelligible chunks. A cognitive psychologist, Sissons has drawn on research into how humans learn to understand numbers, and has changed all of time from an incomprehensible blur into a fascinating seamless story. From the Big Bang to the formation of our lands and seas, to when man first made his appearance, to the 21st century, each page of this wise little book concerns itself with just one important notch on the time belt of our universe.

By understanding the past, including the mass extinctions and earth's8217;s climate changes that have recurred repeatedly, we can be more prepared to face our future. Whether you want to know more about the history of the universe, or decide if the discoveries of science reflect a creative design that deepens religious views or contradicts them, this book reveals a sometimes beautiful, sometimes brutal, always amazing universe still full of mystery.
