Leadership: The New Management Reality is a three-session program designed to help managers lead their departments and organizations given a fluctuating workforce. The country's8217;s
shifting demographics have created environments where employees may range in age from 18 to 75, and heightened competition has made recruiting and retaining employees almost as critical
as motivating them. Today's8217;s manager must develop keen leadership and relational skills, which this series is designed to impart. Topics to be covered will include: The Performance
Optimizer, which covers ways to recruit, motivate and keep valuable staff members; The Cultural Engineer, which explores tools for effectively running interference against outside
distractions and managing the dynamics within the group; The Communication Blueprint, which demonstrates ways to communicate with one's8217;s team; and Implementing the New Management
Reality, in which participants will use and apply their new skills to design a Practical Execution Plan for their departments or organizations. The course, to be taught by Pattie Vargas

Professional Communication Skills combines two half-day workshops designed to hone individuals's8217; written communications 's8211; and further their success. 's8220;Strengthening Your
Grammar Skills's8221; will provide tips and guidelines for preventing embarrassing mistakes and avoiding communication misfires that cost time and money. Exercises will highlight ways
that correct grammar and punctuation enhance one's8217;s effectiveness and credibility. The second workshop, 's8220;Business Writing for Professionals,'s8221; is a hands-on class designed
to help participants write more clearly and effectively. Students are encouraged to bring samples of their writing to this session. Both workshops will meet from 8:30 - noon on Wednesdays
Oct. 11 (Grammar Skills) and 18 (Business Writing) at the City of Carlsbad Training Facility, 1635 Faraday Avenue, Carlsbad. The fee is $125 per workshop or $225 for both 's8211; a 10

Supervising Employees Certificate is an eight-week program that provides new or soon-to-be promoted supervisors and managers with a solid foundation in the essentials of supervising
employees. Participants will leave each session with higher levels of self confidence backed by skills that can be immediately applied at their worksites. The program is presented in
workshops that meet from 8:30 a.m. - noon on Tuesdays, Sept. 12 - Oct. 31 in Room 104 of the Foundation Classroom Building. The fee for each is $125 and participants can register for the
full certificate for $899, a 10 percent discount. The series begins with 's8220;Management Basics for Supervisors,'s8221; on Sept. 12. The other workshops are: 's8220;Transition from Peer

Advanced Supervising Employees Certificate extends the successful 's8220;Supervising Employees Certificate's8221; with training in additional skill sets that every successful supervisor
or manager should have. The program is presented in workshops that meet from 8:30 a.m. - noon on Thursdays, Sept. 14 - Nov. 16 in Room 104 of the Foundation Classroom Building. The fee
for each varies, but participants can register for the full certificate for $1,100, a 10 percent discount over paying for individual classes. The series begins with 's8220;Measure Your
Effectiveness as a Supervisor: Supervising that Impacts the Bottom Line,'s8221; on Sept. 14 for a fee of $149. The remaining classes are: 's8220;Personality and Performance: Increasing
