Capella University (online university based in Minneapolis,
Minn., announced today that its School of Education will offer a new
post-master'ss certificate
in enrollment management. The online program will be offered in association with Noel-Levitz, a nationally recognized consulting firm specializing in higher education recruitment and
retention. Graduates of the program will receive a Capella University certificate, as well as a professional certificate in enrollment management from Noel-Levitz. Capella also offers a
master'ss degree in education with a specialization in enrollment management, which is currently the only master'ss program that leads to professional certification by Noel-Levitz.
The relatively new field of enrollment management has become increasingly important to higher education institutions faced with a growing reliance on tuition as a source of funding, due
to increased costs of higher education, declining public support, and increased competition. As a result, enrollment management skills are now considered core competencies for a wide
range of higher education administrator positions, an area in which the number of job openings is expected to grow by more than 21 percent between 2004 and 2014, according to the U.S.
Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Ten years ago, you hardly ever saw higher education job postings calling for enrollment management skills, said Edward Gould, EdD, faculty director for Capella'ss School of Education.
Today, if you look at The Chronicle of Higher Education'ss listings of professional and administration positions, you find enrollment management skills requested at almost every level up
to vice chancellor. We saw that demand two years ago when we launched our master'ss degree specialization in enrollment management. We'sve since had many of our PhD learners in higher
education ask for an enrollment management program, and our partner Noel-Levitz has received similar inquiries. We worked with them to develop the post-master'ss certificate in enrollment
management to respond to those needs.
Capella is now accepting enrollment applications for its post-master'ss certificate in enrollment management. For more information, please call 1-888-CAPELLA (227-3552) option 3, or
e-mail. Review of this certificate program is pending in the following states: AZ, FL, OH, and WA. Please contact an enrollment director for additional information regarding this
program.
