Epstein offers forty complete English lessons, each of which includes activities, questions for discussion and/or individual writing, vocabulary, and suggestions for grammar practice. All
activities combine reading, writing, speaking, listening, and imagining, for maximum learning reinforcement. They are appropriate for use in either high school or adult education English
as a foreign language classes.
Creative and Stimulating
These lessons have been designed to get students involved in and excited about learning English. The activities are fun and imaginative and they require students to think, listen, speak,
read, write, and create. Students will read and write poems or short stories, play word games, write newspaper articles or book reviews, create advertisements or commercials and try to
sell products to their classmates, learn about common mistakes non-native speakers of English make, practice spelling or pronunciation, perform plays or scenes, interview one another,
invent new sports or political parties, and much more.
Varied and Flexible
Every activity comes with two or three variations; often one variation involves writing, while another might include performing or presenting, and a third is based on creating or
inventing. This important feature provides teachers and students with unmatched choice regarding the type of activity to utilize in any given learning situation. The activities are easily
adapted to different skill levels, for unique learning flexibility. Similarly, there is a wide choice of questions and subjects for discussion and/or writing, and these questions can be
either used after an activity or simply as a pedagogical tool to get students writing or talking.
Ready-Made and Easy to Use
Each lesson is complete, though the individual parts are also self-contained, and can be used on a stand-alone basis or to complement other coursework. All a teacher has to do is pick an
appropriate lesson and photocopy it for classroom use. Everything has been prepared for the teacher, and is presented in an easy-to-understand format for the students.
"Ready, Set, Teach! Ready-Made, Creative Lessons for the English Classroom" is a book that will inject new and invigorating features into English class while also eliminating tedious
