Docklands Light Railway (DLR) has launched a free Teachers's8217; resource pack, making school trips to East London and Docklands easier than ever.
The resource pack is available to download at www.dlr.co.uk/teachers and has been produced for teachers at key stages 2, 3 and 4. It
demonstrates how DLR and its unique surroundings can be used to support the National Curriculum and GCSE exam board requirements in Geography, particularly with respect to the settlement
and urban regeneration themes.
DLR operates throughout the UK's8217;s most ambitious urban renewal site: London's8217;s Docklands and Canary Wharf. A key factor in the regeneration of the area, DLR serves Docklands new
major financial centre, its growing population and its new expanding developments.
Included within the pack are background notes to help teachers to plan and prepare for a fieldwork trip to Docklands, tour maps, useful terms and pupil activity sheets designed in a fun
and clear format.
The route suggested within the pack is designed to last 1-3 hours, depending on your chosen route. Should you decide to extend your tour to a full day, DLR serves some of London's8217;s
most fantastic and awe-inspiring attractions including two World Heritage Sites and attractions such as the Canary Wharf business centre, the Royal Observatory, National Maritime Museum,
the meridian line, longitude O's8217; and the Museum in Docklands.
