Honey Tree Early Childhood Center Announces Retirement of Director...



#8212; After thirty-three years of dedication, teaching, and directing, Karen Lindgren is retiring from Honey Tree Early Childhood Center, an outreach program of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Karen will be recognized at worship services on Sunday, June 11th and a cake and coffee reception will be held on the church patio between services.



The Honey Tree doors opened in September 1973, with Alyce Schuldt as director and teacher, Karen Lindgren, teacher, and Marion Tolle as assistant teacher. They started with 46 students. Today, Honey Tree has a faculty of 19 with 246 students, consisting of five parent/toddler classes, twelve preschool classes, a young fives class, and a kindergarten.



Honey Tree has been a very special part of my life, says Karen Lindgren. All of the children 's8211; over 8,000 of them, and their families, and the faculty have really been a blessing for me. I truly appreciate the opportunity to be a part of Honey Tree all these years.



Honey Tree'ss major purpose is to help each child value him or herself as a unique individual created by God, while developing a joyful curiosity about the world. The program is designed to provide experiences that involve the total child: intellectually, physically, emotionally and socially within the framework of a Christian setting.



Honey Tree Early Childhood Center is a member of the following organizations: National Association For the Education of Young Children, California Association for the education of Young Children, Tri Counties Association for the Education of Young Children, Evangelical Lutheran Education Association, and Preschool Association of Lutheran Schools.



Honey Tree Early Childhood Center is accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs, a division of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. NAEYC is the nation'ss largest organization of early childhood educators. Accredited schools have complied with the Academy'ss criteria for high quality early childhood programs through a comprehensive process of internal self-study and external professional review.



Honey Tree registration for fall 2006 is almost complete. There are some openings in the Young Fives program and the Tuesday/Thursday AM 3-year-old classes. Honey Tree Early Childhood Center is a community service ministry and evangelism outreach ministry of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church was founded in 1959 on grounds donated by the Olsen family to the California Lutheran University campus. Located at 1 W.
