Lady Liberty Shines her Light on Children The Literacy Site and First...

June 2, 2005 -- This June freedom and literacy will ring through cyberspace as The Literacy Site promotes its Statue of Literacy Click Challenge to give kids the gift of books. The Literacy Site and First Book have challenged daily clickers and web surfers to fund 500,000 books to children in need. For one week - May 30th to June 5th, 2005 - every click on the "Give Free Books" button at www.TheLiteracySite.com generates one brand new book to be distributed to lower income families across America. Funded by sponsors including Verizon and Random House, the Statue of Literacy Click Challenge is free to clickers and marks the first one-click-equals-one book event, but not the last.

The unique opportunity comes in plenty of time for summer reading and a chance for youngsters to bone up on their literacy skills in time for the start of school next September.

Launched in November 2004, The Literacy Site is dedicated to using the power of the Internet to connect individuals interested in taking small action to make a significant impact on eradicating illiteracy in the United States.

The Literacy Site and First Book are proud to offer a chance for individuals to make a difference in the life of a child. Visit www.TheLiteracySite.com to help today.
