Major Expansion of Child Daycare Centre Montessori School

Under the child development umbrella of RRD Academy Inc., Reading Rainbow Daycare and Royal Canadian Montessori School announced today the completion of their major facility expansion.



Located at 1121 Dundas St. East in Whitby, Ontario, this early childhood educational centre has increased its total size from approx 4,000 sq. ft to almost 10,000 sq. ft., and is now capable of extending its unique learning platform, 's8220;Millennium Academic Program's8221; (MAP) to approx. 150 full time children.

Designed and constructed as a state-of-the-art child daycare and learning centre within the heart of Durham Region, the added space brings Reading Rainbow's8217;s daycare capacity to almost 90 youngsters (infants, toddlers, and preschoolers), while the existing space under lease since early 2002 (now linked via breezeway), has been transformed to serve approx. 60 full time elementary learners of Royal Canadian Montessori School.

Dawn Deane, Lead Supervisor and Principal Director (also co-owner with her husband Michael), stated that;

It was almost three years ago when we started putting all of our designs on paper and about a year since the construction started, but finally we's8217;re here. With all of our government approvals in hand from the Town, the Region, and the Province, we's8217;re now ready to make it all happen, for the better development of today's8217;s children -- who could want for anything more's8221;

The new daycare centre is a bright and cheery environment equipped with a gymnasium, commercial kitchen, computer lab, several free flow curriculum classrooms, designated infant and toddler rooms and rest areas, laundry rooms, private change and washroom facilities, and a self contained exterior courtyard play area that can be viewed from all key interior locations wrapping around the north and south wings of the facility.

The Montessori school at the north wing offers a progressive alternative to public education for children in a friendly and safe environment, and of all economic ranges. The school's8217;s unique MAP educational system provides cutting edge learning of languages (English, French and Spanish), mathematics, social and cultural studies, and a variety of sciences for positive child development.
