Penrose Press Announces the Publication the World Design Directory

This worldwide database includes over 6,000 colleges & universities, 5,000 professional organizations & societies, 4,000 conferences & events, 12,000 professional journals & magazines, 6,000 libraries, 2,000 centers & museums, 2,000 publishers. 1,000 event organizers and 6,000 web resources. In total, over 50,000 organizations are included and cross-referenced in the database.

Users may browse the database for regional or subject-specific news, and search for related professional organizations & publications within the same context. For example, while viewing cosmetic industry news, cosmetic industry publications and professional organizations are just a click away. This lexical structured database is accessible by both keyword searching and drill-down 'slicing and dicing' by subject areas, geographic regions and 200 countries using a proprietary relational DBMS.

Another new feature of the database is discipline specific product listings cross-referenced with domain-specific advertising. For example, product listings posted on the architectural products page are linked to advertising run on the architectural schools and societies pages. This sort of tight cross-referencing is an essential feature of this new publication that permits users to quickly access related publications and organizations. This multi-faceted database access permits the user to view the database many different points-of-view concurrently.

Access to the 'World Design Directory' is 100% free. All sorts of design are included from Acoustic Engineering to Video Production and 45 key subject areas in-between. Both engineering design disciplines and more artistic-style oriented subjects are covered.

This new 'World Design Directory' supercedes and replaces the 'International Directory of Design' http://www.penrose-press.com/idd/ . After nearly 20 years of publication, the 'International Directory of Design' will suspend publication in 2009.
