BCD Semiconductor Manufacturing Limited (BCD Semi) recently announced a new 5-channel monolithic motor driver IC suitable for DVD players. It is designed exclusively for power system with
5V single power supply, and the electro-static discharge's65288;ESD's65289;of this highly-integrated AM5665 surpasses 3 kilovolts. Two of channels in AM5665 are BTL (Bridge-Tied-Load)
drivers with current feedback which have high performance on maintaining the stability of control loop. The other two channels BTL drive spindle motor and servo motor; and the last
channel is a dual motor driver circuit with output voltage management designed for managing tray-in and tray-out functions. Since a monolithic device applied to a system is inherently
more reliable than that using several discrete devices, in which a failure in one of the components can jeopardize the performance of the entire system, AM5665, as a product integrated
with the functions of AZ5954 and AZ6208B, enables it to facilitate the operation of DVD players with a more concise design. Therefore, adoption of AM5665 in system design can minimize the
board space and, in the meantime, enhances the reliability and stability of the system.
Focusing on DVD players and the subsequent high-end product market, BCD Semi released a series of motor driver IC products based on 1.5um/15V bipolar process technology. For instance,
AM5668, a 5-channel motor driver circuitry with high integration and cost-effectiveness, is a premier choice to serve DVD players and high-end motor driver market nowadays. BCD Semi also
released to the common market a dynamic motor driver IC, AM5954A, which consistently meets the emerging requirements of new type DVD players. AM5954A is fully compatible with BA5954 and
can replace AZ5954 and AAI5954.
Additionally, BCD Semi developed a 4-channel BTL driver IC, AM5901A, suitable for portable CD/VCD/MP3 players. This power control IC features built-in conversion control, reset, battery
charge, short circuit protection and a free amplifier, a thermal shut-down circuit and low start-up voltage up to 1.8V. AM5901A has better performance on addressing, driving the motor and
reading disk. It is compatible with AAI5901 and AZ5901, and can replace them directly as well. This product is a primary choice for various applications in portable CD/MP3/VCD
players.
