RxNotify announces it'ss revamped website, offering a user-friendly service that delivers reminders via telephone or text
message. After enrolling online, members will be able to record and schedule telephone or text reminders either for themselves or for family members who have trouble remembering to take
their meds.
More than five years ago, after Giannina Consiglieri, RN noticed that some patients were taking
their medications incorrectly or incompletely, she partnered with Anthony Escribens, to create a
web site that addresses this problem. In April 2002, Anthony and Giannina became CEO and Vice President of Rx Notify Corp, respectively.
Prescription medication non-compliance is a big problem in healthcare, today, says Escribens. A recent study shows a staggering statistic that more than 125,000 Americans die each year
due to patients's failure to take their medications as directed by their doctors--roughly twice the number of people killed in automobile accidents--yearly. Furthermore, prescription
medication non-compliance is expensive at a cost of more than $270 million in additional hospitalization and other medical costs, each day.
RxNotify'ss initial site provided a reminder service to its members via text messaging, and then added its
voice reminder feature in July 2006. Now, RxNotify.com has expanded its services to the online public.
Members have access to a prescription database where they may store their medication schedules and take advantage of RxNotify'ss reminder service. Reminder messages may be customized
either in a text or voice format.
RxNotify'ss new site offers a service that goes beyond medication reminders. The RxID card -- free to each member --
provides any health care provider with access to critical insurance and medical information, including an archive of the patient'ss prescription history, allergies, surgeries, blood-type.
The database also provides primary and secondary emergency contacts, as well as pharmacist and physician phone numbers.
