Nominations are Now Open for Career Path Awards

Expanded Careers today announced plans for hosting a Boomer/Senior Career Paths Conference (http://chalkinstitute.org/boomers/careerconference.html) to be held in early October. The event is now accepting nominations for Career Path Awards to honor companies that remain dedicated to their employees. Such dedication includes various acts of establishment and maintenance in designing career paths for company employment. This year, the conference would not only like to recognize those dedicated to Baby Boomers and Seniors, but also those companies that provide opportunities for young workers and the many different ethnicities that makeup the workplace.

Expanded Careers is happy to accept nominations for any company (large, small, or non-profit) that exemplifies positive employment and represents any of the characteristics noted above. Anyone who is interested in placing a nomination, may visit the Chalk Institute website and fill out the nomination form. http://chalkinstitute.org/boomers/nominate.html

Awarded companies will receive certificates of recognition, a trophy for their reception areas, and a chance to speak at the Conference. This opportunity will allow companies to speak on behalf of their employees and further promote and encourage such dedication to furthering careers in the workplace.

In the past, Expanded Careers has honored six companies with Career Path Awards including American Express, CVS Pharmacy, EDO, Fujitsu, Hughes Environmental Services, and Robert Half. These are just a few of the companies that are dedicated to their employees and that work toward creating positive environments to further career paths.

Conference attendee and presenter, Jane Yee described the previous event as "open, lively, and very encouraging in allowing honest participation." The ability to share her portfolio during the presentation allowed Jane to "learn from the audience's questions and receive inputs which will help to improve [her portfolio."

Diana Hagerty also believed that "The session on creating a career portfolio was great! Seeing new ways to present what I've accomplished beyond using just a rsum has opened up a whole new way for me to view my career- both in the past and for the future."

Peter Hartzman found that the real strength of the Conference was that "Communication flowed in a two-way manner. The speakers were interesting, but the audience participated fully. There was a lot of give-and-take between both the speakers and the attendees."

About Expanded Careers -- The 222 members of Expanded Careers style themselves as career-serious. Their on-line discussion group and monthly meetings include workshops on career paths, business skills, and work-life balance.
