Pima Medical Institute, 3770 Citadel Drive in Colorado Springs has just garnedered yet another award. Shirley Jelmo, a Medical Assistant Instructor has been named Teacher of the Year by the Colorado Private School Association.
Colorado Springs, CO - Pima Medical Institute, 3770 Citadel Drive in Colorado Springs has just garnedered yet another award. Shirley Jelmo, a Medical Assistant Instructor has been named Teacher of the Year by the Colorado Private School Association. It is not the first time Jelmo has been honored. Last year she was named Master Teacher of the Year by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools.
"Shirley is the type of person who creates an outstanding example that students want to emulate," said Campus Director Sam Pedregon. "This is not only reflected in the quality of her
teaching, but in the quality of students who graduate from her program. She instills a desire to be the absolute best, which is exactly what we try to achieve here at Pima Medical
Institute."
The small campus has been big on awards. National awards in the past include: Ronnie Lynn Lewis who won the Outstanding Student Award in the Dental Assistant category and Philip Young
received the Outstanding Student Award in the Medical Assistant category from the American Medical Technologists. Medical Assistant student Sandra Young, was named Student of the Year by
the Colorado Private School Association in the Allied Health Specialist Clinical category, and former Associate Campus Director, Pam Rushing, was named Staff Member of the Year by the
Colorado Private School Association.The school and staff have also received recognition from the Colorado Springs Fire Department for playing the role of disaster victims in the training
of local emergency personnel.
The Colorado Springs campus has programs for Dental Assistant, Medical Administrative Assistant, Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician and Veterinary Assistant.
