THOUGHT Inc. , The Dynamic O/R Mapping (ORM) Company announces that CocoBase Pure POJO V5, the technology leader and award winning Enterprise JPA Persistence tool, continues to
successfully manage the ACES J2EE based solution for the State of Maine, Department of Human Resources. CocoBase, as the first 100% Java ORM tool first available in early 1997, has
established a foundation of long-term success with customers as exemplified in this enterprise. This successful utilization of CocoBase highlights some of its key advantages, primarily
that Thought Inc. does an excellent job of expertly supporting customers and evolving the CocoBase technology to continue to work well on the Java platform. This insures that customers
receive long-term viability when using CocoBase for their applications and protects the return received from their investment.
"We are very satisfied with our choice to use CocoBase for the State of Maine project," said Tom Mechachonis, Managing Director for Keane. "The tool easily met the technical requirements
needed and supported our staff in achieving a quick time to market release of the application."
Over the years, Thought Inc. has worked closely with Keane, Inc., a leading business and information technology (IT) consulting firm, to maintain the Automated Client Eligibility System
(ACES) for the Maine Department of Human Services. This custom built application provides the first advanced web-based eligibility determination and benefit issuance system in the United
States and has improved process time for eligibility determination from days to hours.
The new system enables state specialists to assist citizens with the application process and eligibility determination for any combination of 45 state administered human services
programs. Personal information is entered by the frontline Eligibility Specialist workers, and populated for all selected programs simultaneously, reducing paperwork and providing
real-time eligibility determination. Within minutes ACES determines potential program eligibility, calculates benefits and enables the Specialists to counsel recipients with time
previously consumed by the manual application process for individual programs. Eligibility to receive benefits may now be processed for residents within 24 hours, a significant
improvement of the previous average process time of four to five days.
