Istoria Works with St. Johns Vision to Preserve Florida Wetlands Native Vegetation
As two of the newest members of St. Johns Vision, a nonprofit organization that seeks to resolve key issues that may impact St. Johns County residents over the next five to fifteen years, builder Bryan Lendry and developer Mike Antonopoulos are doing their part to further the organization'ss strategic goals. The duo is tackling some of the nonprofit'ss environmental preservation objectives and infrastructure strategies by using Florida friendly landscaping, renewable energy sources and wildlife habitation preservation techniques in their newest residential community, Istoria.
With its expansive views of the Tolomato River, cooling coastal sea breezes, and native Florida plant life, Istoria, is striving to be much more than an ordinary community. What makes the project so special is its commitment to preserving the natural landscapes and native vegetation of its environmentally diverse location.
Istoria is situated adjacent to conservation lands in Florida'ss Northern Coastal Basin
and the saltwater marsh along the Tolomato River at Casa Cola Creek. One of the most compelling attributes of the property is a predominantly undisturbed vegetative cover consisting of indigenous species. Buffers of existing natural vegetation, conservation areas, preserved open spaces
and the community'ss public recreation area located on the river marsh comprise 25% of the entire community. Brylen'ss desire to preserve the natural character of Istoria has resulted in a built environment that blends seamlessly with the natural landscape.
Istoria considers the sensitive conservation lands adjacent to the development and incorporates the principles of Xeriscape landscaping, using plants that thrive with little or no irrigation. The theme is designed to reinforce, enhance and celebrate the natural systems by establishing a harmonious and consistent flow of natural landscaping throughout the community. When determining the best site development plan, consideration was given to access, solar orientation, shade patterns, existing vegetation, soils, topography, drainage, utilities, building restriction lines and relationships of indoor and outdoor use.
The residences of Istoria are equally adapted to their native surrounding
and the unique history of the location. Set among a towering canopy of lives oaks, interior ponds,
and the saltwater marsh of Casa Cola Creek the homes of Istoria are designed according to the colonial influences and architectural traditions of the property'ss past - a combination of the British West Indies and Coastal styles. Structural details include ample wrap around porches, double hung windows accentuated by wood frames and French doors, majestic raised ceilings, and extended roof overhangs. Home sites designed to be harmonious with the surrounding wetlands and native vegetation creates a distinctive natural environment. The simple forms and details of this evolutionary architectural style result in well-proportioned homes that exude a casual charm.
Istoria is located in the growth corridor between Jacksonville'ss Southside and St. Augustine on the shore of Casa Cola Creek. The community is within casual drives of the Avenues Mall, the championship golf courses of World Golf Village and Palencia, historic St. Augustine, Vilano Beach, Ponte Vedra Beach,
and the new Baptist Medical Center. I-95 is also easily accessible via U.S. Highway 1 and International Golf Parkway. For more information, please contact Brylen Homes at (904) 904-514-8913 or
