Microsoft Releases City of Miami Case Studies
Recently, Microsoft Corporation published video and written case studies of the City of Miami's new interactive zoning map website, which integrates MapDotNet and Virtual Earth. Internet users can view the video case study and view the 3D zoning maps at Miami's website, at miamigis.com (http://www.miamigis.com).
According to the case study, The City of Miami wanted to merge its GIS data with a consumer-oriented mapping application that would provide an easy way to visualize, connect with, and navigate through information and services. The city needed online mapping applications to help in three main areas: public safety response, urban design and planning, and tourism services. Miami engaged IT consulting firm and Microsoft Gold Certified Partner I.S. Consulting to help it develop a mapping application built on the Microsoft .NET Framework and integrating the city 's ESRI-based geodatabase with other databases. Working with IS Consulting, Miami chose Microsoft Virtual Earth mapping software to develop its new applications.'
