The WILD Foundation Releases 12 Years of the International Journalof...

The WILD Foundation (http://www.wild.org) and partners have released the complete issues of The International Journal of Wilderness (IJW) (http://www.wild.org/main/communications/international-journal-of-wilderness/) from 1995-2006 on its website for free. Selected articles from the more recent issues of IJW are also available.

As part of its ongoing work to inform and inspire the conservation of wild nature, The WILD Foundation is committed to compiling and disseminating the latest information on wilderness conservation. Providing IJW online for free use and enjoyment reflects WILD'ss expanding online presence. As of this writing there are 30+ issues of IJW-- over 1,300 pages of content by some of the world'ss most respected conservation experts available for download in PDF format from WILD'ss website. WILD encourages wilderness managers, scientists, students, and citizen advocates to take advantage of these free online resources.

The International Journal of Wilderness is the leading professional publication for wilderness managers, scientists, educators, students and advocates, worldwide, focusing on:

> Wilderness management, education and research articles

> Wilderness philosophy, ideas and approaches

> Inspirational ideas, programs and viewpoints

> Wilderness organizations, events, book reviews

> Planning and allocation strategies

IJW contains feature-length, peer-reviewed research articles, case-studies from the US and other countries, important announcements and book reviews. A Soul of the Wilderness feature article by a key wilderness thinker leads every issue. Past issues (http://www.wild.org/main/communications/international-journal-of-wilderness/ijw-1999/) have included articles on wilderness law and legislation; training, inventory, monitoring, education, emerging wilderness technologies and their pros and cons. From thoughts on the 40th anniversary of the U.S. Wilderness Act to a discussion of community involvement in ecological reserves in Ecuador, the IJW contains valuable wilderness information and perspective.

The International Journal of Wilderness is now in its 14th year of publication, and continues to grow in importance as a tool for wilderness managers, scientists, educators, and citizen advocates, world-wide, says John C. Hendee, IJW Editor in Chief, Emeritus Professor and retired Dean, University of Idaho. Many IJW materials have become important sources for wilderness related college classes and agency management trainings. Having so many issues of the Journal online for free will encourage further use of this valuable resource.

Started in 1995, the IJW publishes 3 issues each year in April, August, and December. Assembled by Managing Editor, Dr. Chad Dawson, Professor, State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, and advised by a volunteer Editorial Board of prominent wilderness scholars and managers, IJW is financially supported by subscriptions and donor-sponsors including leading wilderness agencies, organizations and The WILD Foundation.
