Audiences Comes Out in Force for Bannockburn Green Free SummerConcert...

As Bannockburn Green breaks down the outdoor summer stage, its second annual Summer Concert Series comes to a close. Despite less-than-ideal weather, a sluggish economy, and competing seasonal events, the summer scene at Bannockburn Green was alive and well attended. The free concert series drew record turnouts, topping more than 200 people for the final concert, far exceeding last year'ss attendance.

According to Robyn Konlon, Bannockburn Green events coordinator, People could come and hear quality performers without paying for tickets or fighting for seats. The casual venue was a big attraction for families, she says, who could come and go as they please, and shop or dine in the surrounding stores and restaurants. The numbers speak to the community-friendly atmosphere. Konlon says. People loved the nostalgic jazz-blues format.

Among this summer concert series's performers were: world-class blues vocalist Katherine Davis; Chicago blues boogie jazz pianist Erwin Helfer; jazz greats Daryl Coutts, JB Brown and Roberto Agusto; Stardust 12-piece nostalgic big band; Ronnie Hicks and J.R. Fuller on Bass and Japanese blues guitarist Shun Kikuta. Konlon says the overwhelming positive response has motivated an early search for next year'ss high-profile performers.
