UBCs Dr. Wada Internationally Acclaimed Researcher Receives National...



The Canadian League Against Epilepsy, the national medical organization representing Canada internationally, will give Dr. Juhn Wada, former University of British Columbia (UBC) epilepsy researcher, educator and physician, top honours October 4th at a dinner celebrating his worldwide accomplishments.



On Wednesday October 3rd at the Sage Bistro at UBC, Dr. Wada is being honoured for his work in developing and pioneering a technique now considered the "gold standard" in neurosurgery around the world, the "Wada test".



Dr. Wada joined UBC in 1956 and in 1966 he was chosen Medical Research Council of Canada Career Investigator. Dr. Wada played a key role in developing international medical relationships between Canada, Japan, the United States, Canada, and other countries. Dr. Wada is an Officer of the Order of Canada and its equivalent in Japan.



Dr. Wada has been a commanding figure in the field of epilepsy during his career. Dr. Wada's legacy prevails through the abundance of young neuroscientists and clinical researchers he educated, whom have since developed their own exceptional careers.
