Private Bank of California Opens



Los Angeles's newest bank, The Private Bank of California, opened for business today in Century City.

The bank last month completed a record initial public offering for a new bank in California, raising $36.3 million in an oversubscribed IPO by 338 investors.

Steven D. Broidy, chairman, said he expects the investors also will be initial customers and will help develop other relationships among the bank's primary markets -- high net worth individuals, business owners, legal and financial professionals and their firms and entertainment service businesses -- in West Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica.

"We have assembled an exceptional team of officers and employees," Broidy said. "They are committed to give our customers unsurpassed personal service. The bank and its customers will especially benefit by the extensive experience of our senior management, including Charles D. Kenny, chief executive officer, and Richard Smith, president, both of whom have held leadership positions at successful Los Angeles banks," said Broidy, a banking executive for 35 years who formerly was Vice Chairman of one of the city's largest banks.
