A Recent Survey of Baby Boomers Shows 41 Most Concerned About How Much...

A recent survey of baby boomers shows 41% most concerned about how much they need for retirement.

They want to know, what's the number

Realizing that their future will be very different than their parents, baby boomers, or the 77 million born between 1946 and 1964, have serious questions. A recent survey asked what was foremost on their minds.

Among the biggest concerns were:

-41% wanted to know how much they needed for retirement.

-18% sought information about retirement plan options and investment choices.

-9% were most concerned about how best to spend their time and have quality of life.

Surprisingly, only 8% were worried about the future of Social Security and Medicare. Perhaps this generation has already discounted how much these programs will even be there to help as they retire.

The information was compiled by Robert Lansburg, 57, author of a new book, The Baby Boomer's Ultimate Guide to Retirement. He wrote this out of frustration with much of the existing retirement advice, which he felt was more appropriate to 1955 than today.

Lansburg says, "Our generation is not just going to spend our time waiting for early bird dinners, and playing golf all day. We're also going to face serious challenges simply because of our sheer numbers. Yes, we're the pig in the python."
