Palisades Federal Credit Union announced the four winners of the 2009 George Hatala scholarship during their annual meeting at the Comfort Inn in Nanuet, NY. Three of the winners received Palisades's George Hatala scholarships in the amount of $750. The fourth scholar received a $1,000 award from Palisades's George Hatala scholarship and an additional $1,000 award from the New York State Credit Union League, Inc. and Affiliates which brought the evenings total to $4,250 in scholarships.
Palisades's George Hatala scholarship was created to honor Mr. Hatala'ss resilient efforts to improve the quality of life for everyone in Rockland County, especially the youth. It'ss a

Eligible scholarship applicants are college bound high school seniors who will be attending college for the first time in the fall of 2009 and are members of Palisades Federal Credit
Union. Students were selected because of their academic performance, extracurricular and community activities as well as an essay based on the credit union industry'ss philosophy, People
helping People.
