June 23, 2005 -- Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/reports/c19568) has announced the addition of Credit Card Issuer Safety Scorecard: Ranking Top 39 Issuers on Fraud
Safety Concerns to their offering.
Fraud containment is critical to industry profitability; 2004 credit card identity fraud crimes topped $19.8 billion, not counting operational and relationship-oriented costs. Using a
rigorous, multi-level methodology, this research evaluates the top 39 U.S. issuers based on multiple safety criteria.
This report uncovers opportunities and highlights areas for improvement for credit card issuer programs to control the overwhelming costs associated with identity theft and fraud and to
increase customer preference. Specific recommendations are provided for issuers to help prevent and detect identity fraud and to improve resolution capabilities for victims.
Issuers can utilize this report to increase account holders' safety and trust, implement product differentiation based on security offerings and improve customer loyalty and transaction
volume. This report can also help credit card issuers to reduce fraud and chargebacks.
Across all cards, most credit card issuers have opportunities to significantly strengthen cardholder-facing identity fraud mitigation capabilities, within the proprietary, research-based
model that has been created to increase safety: Prevention, Detection and Resolution. The absence of essential safety capabilities places cardholders at undue risk of identity fraud, and
causes unnecessary and escalating costs for issuers and the credit card industry.
39 U.S. issuers are evaluated in the Identity Fraud Safety Scorecard for Credit Card Issuers. For each issuer, the issuer's most prominently-marketed card (VISA Platinum, Platinum
MasterCard, etc.) as determined by the issuer's Web site or as identified by customer service representatives (CSRs) was selected for the online identity fraud safety evaluation.
