Shiner Enters the Light Beer Market

The Spoetzl Brewery, the country's fourth largest craft brewer, has announced the introduction of the newest member of the storied Shiner family of beers, Spezial Leicht, a 99-calorie summer seasonal beer.

Summer is just around the corner. That had the folks at the Spoetzl Brewery thinking about just how great an ice-cold beer tastes on a hot Texas day.

In fact, they thought about it so much that they decided to create a beer that's perfect for the summer weather, in Texas and everywhere else it gets hot enough to make you long for a frosty beer. The result is Spezial Leicht, available from late April through September in all 39 states where Shiner is sold.

Spezial Leicht is an especially crisp and refreshing beer. The kind you'll want to drink when you've finished mowing the lawn, out at the lake, with the team after a softball game or anywhere you find the combination of friends and warm weather.

At times like these, when you're discovering that Spezial Leicht is delicious and thirst-quenching, you will also be pleased to know that this is truly a light beer, with only 99 calories.

Shiner beers owe a lot to the German and Czech history of the town and the brewery - that legacy is reflected in every beer they make. But they are also very much a Texas brewery. Spezial Leicht was made with Texans' beer tastes in mind, although beer-drinkers everywhere will love it.

Just like all Shiner beers, every drop of Spezial Leicht is handcrafted by only 56 employees of the Spoetzl brewery in the little town of Shiner, Texas (population 2,070), just like it's been done since 1909.
