When The Wine Space owners Ron & KD set out to build a wine community December 16th of 2006, they had no idea it would have so many detours, obstacles, curves and roadblocks. Then came July 19th, 2007 and they finally realized the launch of The Wine Space. The positive aspect to all of these distractions were that the site was able to under go a transformation very visible today. The founders Ron & KD had seen the popularity of other social networks but felt that there really was not a social networking site geared to those who enjoy wine or those within the wine industry. With lots of informational wine sites on the web, they felt they needed to take it in another direction. A site that would appeal to a realm of people wanting to share their personal experiences. Once the community started, the learning curve was taking place as the members made thewinespace.com their own. A place to come blog about wines they have tried. A space to come post pictures of wineries they have visited, photos they have taken and events they have gone to.

The interesting and very unique part of building this site is that during this whole process of growth, was their ability to keep it a very tasteful site. Based on the members inspiration and ideas, they really out did any expectations on how creative they have become at customizing their personal wine space. From posting events from around the world to their favorite recipes they want to share. Even Wineries, Wine makers and growers from around the world joined and shared in their new releases and hottest wines and wine education topics. Many wineries even ask other members advertising and branding questions.

Ask Ron and KD what makes The Wine Space tick and they both will say "participation of the members" . Those members are rewarded with an upgraded level and have access to greater sections of The Wine Space. This enables them to offer a personal take on what they want to add to the site. In a year every single aspect of the wine space has grown over 300 percent.

The potential of The Wine Space in the future is huge. The average rate of new wineries in California alone last year was about 300-400. With that kind of growth there will always be an abundance of information to share amongst the members. What a great time to be discussing wine. You know your doing something right when news comes out that wine drinking has surpassed beer.
