Split Bean Coffee is a Southern California based Micro-Roaster of Single Origin, Strictly High Grown (SHG), Nicaraguan Coffees; and confectioner of Artesian Quality Gourmet Sweets, featuring our world famous Alfajores La Misin.



Founded in 2003 Split Bean Coffee is a family owned business dedicated to the promotion and appreciation of Old Fashioned Coffees and Treats. Using family treasured recipes from both sides our families South America and The American South, we have combined the time honored traditions of people's love for good quality coffee and the old-fashioned sweets traditions our grand-parents learned to love.



Split Bean offers a fine selection of Micro-roasted coffees, of which SHG Nicaraguan Coffees are our signature. Grown in the highlands of the Matagalpa region in a family member's fair trade co-op farm, our coffee is sun-dried and selected for import directly to us. Our commitment to each of our customers is to provide them with freshest roasted coffee every time. Each bag of coffee is roasted to order to assure they always receive the freshest roast possible.



Split Bean Coffee also carries a limited selection of Artesian Sweets, of which our Alfajores La Misin are our best seller. Featured in over five national publications including The Los Angeles Times, San Jose Mercury News, Tu Ciudad Magazine, Specialty Food Magazine & Indulge Magazine. These South American Shortbread cookies are handmade in small batches just like our Aunt Tita's used to make them. Based on a close guarded recipe dating back to the 1800's, which has been passed on to selected family members, this heavenly treats will melt in your mouth. Available in over 7 creative varieties including our Traditional Dulce de Leche and our Alfajor Americano, a peanut butter filled-chocolate covered.



In addition to our Alfajores, we also make Artesian Marshmallows, Toffee, & Truffles. These products are available under our Dulces del Roco label, and feature such unique seasonal flavors as Rose Petal Flavored Marshmallows, Chili laced Chocolate Truffles, Saffron Marshmallows, and to be forgotten our good-old Almond Toffee, & English Toffee (available October to December only).



For those whose health does not permit them to indulge in the pleasures of coffee, we offer Yerba Mate, a South American tea, made from the leaves of the Mate Tree, full of anti-oxidants. An easy to prepare energy elixir that will restore your body's balance without the side affects associated with caffeine. An ideal year-round beverage that can be enjoyed hot or cold.



Split Bean Coffee's products are available directly from our website, www.SplitBeanCoffee.com and through a few selected coffee & tea houses. By avoiding a distribution platform, we have been able to keep the cost of our goods down, while assuring that our customers always receive the freshest products possible. Since everything is made fresh to order, our normal turn around time is two business days, plus two days for shipping transit. We ship everything using USPS Priority Mail, or if the customer requests, we can ship using an overnight service.

We are proud contributors to Paws LA, The Indian Film Festival, The Make a Wish Foundation LA, The Latin American Lions Club of LA, & The UC Davis Latino Graduation Committee to name a few.



Split Bean Coffee was founded on the principles passed on by member of our Grand-Parents generation and those who came before them. Simple, honest, hard working individuals, for whom preparing a sweet treat or an elaborate meal was not a chore but an act of love and creativity; people who cared not always cared what china your food was served on, but the quality of ingredients used to make them. And most of all, people who never took a shortcut to putting a smile on our face. It is because of them, that we make everything fresh, saluting "The Slow Food Movement", and hope our products somehow bring the innocent sweet child-like smile from yesterdays.
