Choice Cooking Announce New Green and Locavore Initiatives

Choice Cooking, a premiere New York-based personal chef 's38; catering service, introduced a new program of green and locavore initiatives this week. The program was created by chef and owner of Choice Cooking, Ryan Brown, as a way to provide customers with the most eco-friendly service of its kind.

The green/locavore program includes on-site composting, a returnable bio-degradable serving container option and a commitment to obtaining the majority of Choice Cooking'ss produce from Blooming Hill Farm, one of the most esteemed organic farms in the New York area. The first step of the efforts actually began last year, when Mr. Brown introduced a compost to the company'ss Brooklyn kitchen facilities. Many of Choice Cooking'ss clientele have a strong belief in environmentally friendly products and services, and the composting program was implemented to better suit those ideals. Along with the in-house compost, Choice Cooking also introduced new biodegradable storage containers for their meals, which can be returned to the company for composting at the end of each week.

So many of our clients are interested in the locavore and green movements that introducing the composting program and the Blooming Hill Farm produce was an easy decision, said Ryan Brown, the founder and chef at Choice Cooking. As a chef, my number one priority is finding the best ingredients possible, and buying local, sustainable, organic produce is the best way to do that. We'sve had a lot of positive feedback so far, and it feels good to be doing our small part to help out the environment.
