April 25, 2005 -- Imagine having the rare opportunity of owning a 42-bottle collection of Opus One wine gratuitously. We're not just talking single bottles of a 9-year consecutive
vertical flight of Opus One (the joint venture wine of Robert Mondavi and Baron Philip Rothschild), but seven unopened cases of each release. The earliest and original case of the
collection contains two vintages, 2 bottles of 1979 and 4 bottles of 1980. The remaining cases contain 6 bottles of each vintage continuing up to 1987, coincidently the year the Baron
passed
away.
The windfall wine contribution has conditions. The owner of The Monk's Vineyard only ask that you find the buyer for the ($1.7+ million) property that housed the restaurant and wine shop
for over 30 years. Representatives must register clients name with written permission from the prospective property purchaser to benefit from the gratuitous offer. Complete details and
conditions will be
posted at the restaurant web site http://www.monksvineyard.com.
The property in question sits in the middle of the pedestrian area of historic area of St. Augustine, FL, the nations oldest city. The building has been home for The Monk's Vineyard
Restaurant since 1972 and constructed in the 1930's. The restaurant has been a highlight for many visitors who were served by waiters decked out in monk's garb amidst a monastic vineyard
setting. The restaurant has suspended the operation of food service at the time and will be open as a wine and coffee shop until the sale.
