Jones spent nearly two years at Pony International, a worldwide footwear company. Before that Jones served as Vice President/General Manager of the European operation of TaylorMade Golf Company.
"I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to join the Schutt team," says Jones. "Since I love baseball and football, I'm really drawn to the rich heritage of this company. And I've been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with members of the current Schutt leadership team and have seen first-hand what they can accomplish in building successful, world-class brands."
Both Robert Erb, CEO of Schutt and Kip Meyer, Vice President/General Manager, have ties to adidas, where Jones served in a variety of roles, including jobs with an international role. Jones spent over five years in Latin America working for adidas Salomon, first as CFO of the Latin American region and three years as Managing Director of adidas Chile. Later, Jones also worked alongside Erb as the CFO of adidas Golf, a TaylorMade Golf subsidiary.
"He's lived and worked a long time in Europe and Latin America," says Erb. "And that will play a big role as we continue growing the company . He has the experience and knowledge to make sure that we have all of the financial tools and resources we need to continue expanding the company 's operations. He will also be a tremendous asset in making us more efficient and profitable."
Schutt Sports has turned heads in the sporting goods industry the past two quarters, as the company has posted double-digit growth while most other competitors are flat or losing ground in a struggling economy. Building upon the introduction of two new football helmets within the last six months, Schutt is poised to dominate football sales for the foreseeable future.
