BingoLingo, a site devoted to bingo, both online and land based, is pleased to announce that Grand Rapids, Michigan has been named "Bingo Capital of the United States."
It was determined that Grand Rapids has more bingo games and bingo players per capita than any other metropolitan area in the United Sates. "We used several criteria and Grand Rapids not
only met these criteria, but exceeded every other major metropolitan areas in the number of bingo games and players," said Susan Strafford, marketing director of BingoLingo (http://www.bingolingo.com).
Grand Rapids, located in western Michigan, has an ethnically diverse population of 1,320,487, including a large population of Roman Catholics which may, in part, account for the
popularity of bingo. Careful research revealed that Grand Rapids has more bingo games per capita than any other major metropolitan area in the United States including all major cities.
It was also found that Grand Rapids has a large number of online bingo players. The new smoking ban recently imposed on bingo halls is thought to have contributed to the increase in the
number of players who choose to play bingo on the internet. Other factors cited were the wider variety of games, larger prizes, and the convenience of playing at home.
"Colder climates in the north tend to have the largest percentage of online bingo players," said Anthony Wayne, editor of the Internet Bingo Blog (http://www.internetbingoblog.com). "So, it's not surprising that a city in the north was the winner. They love their bingo in Michigan."
With the largest number of bingo players per capita, BingoLingo is pleased to award Grand Rapids, Michigan the title of "Bingo Capital of the United States.
