Ever worry that someone you love is spending too much time playing computer games At least you can switch it off, right Not anymore. A new online entertainment company is releasing a game
that talks to you even after the computer is turned off.
Find Araya is a new cross-media game that aims to blur the lines between gaming and the real world. Players can interact with the characters in the game through real-life meetings,
telephone calls, online chat, post and email. Players will also have the opportunity to visit real locations in order to solve clues or progress in the game.
Players have to help a private detective find a missing woman called Araya. The game is due to begin on the 26th of January 2006 and is free to play. Those who sign up through the forums
will be able to talk online to the detective via a chat-room on the main page. They will also receive regular updates on the case. These updates can be via email, post, text messages or
phone calls (if permission has been granted).
A Find Araya pre-game is already underway in order for players to collect research and prepare for the case. It offers a preview for players of what is to come when the game starts on the
26th of January 2006.
Find Araya is a type of "Alternate Reality Game, or "ARG". There is often a role-play element to these games, with players taking on a specific persona or personality when they interact
with the characters from the game.
In order to preserve this element the website will not have any mention of Find Araya being a game and the developers have also insisted that the company behind the game is not revealed
until after the game has finished.
