Monte Poole is one of America'ss best known sports journalists. The long time Oakland Tribune Columnist has teamed up with Zennie Abraham of Sports Business Simulations to create a
first-of-its-kind video-blog at http://www.themontepooleshow.com
Video-blogging, or vlogging is a new form of alternative media. The creator of this form of expression is Adrian Miles, who in November of 2000 posted the first video in a blog. But it
wasn'st until 2004 that video blogs started to gain a small following and only over the last year, culminating with the celebrated breakup of Amanda Congdon and Andrew Baron, who formed
Rocketboom 1.0 was Vlogging thrust into the eye of mainstream American culture.
Over that time, Sports Business Simulations (SBS), a private Delaware Corporation located in Oakland, California, was seeking to form new media content in its growing web portal. Last
year, SBS launched a network of blogs networked together by a complex link structure and called The SBS Blog Network. Then, starting in December, SBS CEO Zennie Abraham started making
video blogs and installing them first in his blog Zennie'ss Zeitgeist, then in other blogs in the network.
SBS develops web-based sports business simulations for use in the classroom, as a sports fantasy game, and as a consulting tool. One product suite; three markets. SBS'ss multi-content
site offers everything from sports business commentary to sporting goods, sports and concert tickets, and throwback jerseys. To this end, Abraham has been on a quiet but consistent effort
to make SBS's site Web.2.0 in style, or more user interactive. In January, he came up with the idea for something called The Monte Poole Show, and talked to his good friend Mr. Poole
about it.
After two months, the success of Rocketboom caused me to go back to Monte and try again, Abraham said. He was always receptive to the idea, I just has to explain the technicals and of
course the revenue potential.
Now, Poole, Abraham, the excellent Burnett Taing Walton, and a group of SBS Personalities are teaming up to produce The Monte Poole Show at http://www.themontepooleshow.com Abraham says the show will be a mix of guests and topics all picked by Monte, who with Walton and SBS will serve as
co-executive producers. The videos will be distributed widely with Blip.tv as the place of origin for video release.
I'sm really excited about our new program, Abraham said. It'ss the only one that has Monte and his byline attached to it. It will start a trend; we'sre the first to market.
The first episode of The Monte Poole Show will appear in the second week of September at http://www.themontepooleshow.com.
