Small Furry Aliens Beam Down Resources for Teachers and Parents

The Tiny Planets award winning web-site now features lesson plans, interactive stories, games, downloads and even streaming video from the 65 TV shows, each episode of which is specifically aimed at an aspect of the pre-school curriculum. Early years topics covered include maths, science, behaviour, healthy eating, weather and nature, and creativity.



Tiny Planets has become the first show of its kind to be endorsed by Montessori Schools; Barbara Isaacs, Chief Executive of the Montessori Centre International explains: The Montessori method doesn'st generally believe in television as a learning tool. However, we think the educational, fun learning aspect of Tiny Planets is unique and kids will really benefit from watching the show.



That'ss now something they can do on-line, anytime they like and for free. Once they'sve seen the episode, teachers and parents can download a lesson plan to further explore the topic off-line, or stay on the web and work through one of the dozens of flash based games that continue the lesson. To further support that, there are hundreds of downloadable and printable sheets to colour and make, read-along stories and interactive click through books to help kids develop on their own, all helped by the site'ss friendly furry alien hosts, Bing and Bong.



We think it'ss a unique approach, says Carl Goodman of Pepper'ss Ghost Productions. There'ss some great material for teachers on the web, but very little of it has the same continuity of theme and focus that the Tiny Planets web site has; there are so many different ways of learning the lessons it has to be unique. It'ss also a safe, advertising free environment which doesn'st require you to log-on or enter any personal details, and all of the content is free, all the time.



Pepper'ss Ghost invites teachers and parents to take a look at the approach by reviewing just one topic now covered, that of healthy eating. About Tiny Planets

Tiny Planets is a co-production between Pepper'ss Ghost, a UK-based animation company, and Sesame Workshop, world-renowned producers of 'sSesame Street's. Originally conceived as a 'spre-school, pre-science's program, Tiny Planets is a television series where every episode maps to a specific early learning goal.
