Celebrity Animal Poker Tournament Draws Criticism

A newly proposed television series is drawing criticism from some of the most powerful animal rights groups. Celebrity Animal Poker has been in production for more than 6 months and has yet to be assured of it s first broadcast.

Network Editor Jeremy Meyers says, With all of the popularity of poker these days, why not bring it to a whole new level Jeremy has been in contact with many animal actors such as Eddie from the hit show Frasier and Morris the cat from the 9 lives commercials. The one celebrity animal we are having a hard time negotiating with is that stuck up cat from the Fancy Feast commercials says Jeremy. She is not returning any phone calls or emails.

The pilot episode is set to feature Morris, Benji, Black Stallion, Flash (Roscoe s hound dog from Dukes of Hazzard), Flipper, Eddie from Frasier and a few other not so famous animal actors. We had the hardest time setting up a platform for Flipper says Co-Editor Mark Garrison. He kept sliding all over the place and we finally had to use this sticky stuff to keep his belly on the platform.

While all of this seems relatively safe for the animals, several animal rights groups have voiced outrage at the proposed television show. This is just wrong in so many ways says Kathy Jacobson with the Animals for Animals Foundation. For people to use animals in such a way just sickens me, As if keeping these poor creatures as pets wasn t enough, now people are going to watch them play poker Oh my gosh! exclaims Kathy.

Controversy or not, the show is scheduled to make it s debut sometime next year. The show might not have made it past the drawing board had it not been for special funding from the online poker information site http://www.bettinghouse.net. Mark Garrison, Editor of BettingHouse.net says that he was more than happy to foot the bill for such a ground breaking show. You know, this is the next step in the poker world and I am so glad to be a part of it says Mark. It s not everyday that you get to be a part of such an amazing idea.

So like it or not it seems that the poker world is about to experience yet another new concept. I wonder where the winnings will go
