Mike The Mad Genius of Poker Caro on the PocketFives Podcast

It's not very often that poker players around the world are privileged to be able to listen to one of the true legends of poker. The men behind the growth and popularity of poker are the very reason that the sport is played in dorm rooms, kitchens, and casinos around the world. This week, the PocketFives.com Podcast (http://www.pocketfives.com/Podcast) features Mike Caro. Author of the draw poker and statistics chapters of Doyle Brunson's "Super System" and the man behind "Mike Caro's Book of Tells," The Mad Genius discusses the vintage days of poker as well as his world-renowned books.

Caro discussed his "Book of Tells," which you'll find in the home of every serious live and online poker (http://www.pocketfives.com) player in the world: "It's a book that has 179 photographs showing when people are bluffing and when they are not. It's not based on my homespun wisdom; it's based on things that players can relate to because they all have had the same tendencies. To this day, you don't hear anybody arguing about any of these tells because they're all accurate."

PocketFives.com members broke an all-time record this past week by taking down 10 of 15 weekend major tournaments. Eight PocketFivers cashed for over $100,000. Jonathan "therookieqq9" Plens won the PartyPoker Birthday Million for $233,800. Daniel "B_O_K_E" Bokesch won the PokerStars (http://www.pocketfives.com/Poker-Stars-Review) Sunday Million for just under $200K, beating out Australia's "Kochan," who received $134,000 for second place. Third-ranked Shaun Deeb won the Full Tilt Online Poker Series Heads-Up event for $115K, while "ryanbluf" earned $121K for winning the FTOPS six-handed event. Ultimate Bet representative James "P0KERPR033" Campbell - currently ranked #16 in the world at online tournament play - was awarded $157,500 for second place in the FTOPS $300 event, followed by "doubledave22," who made $102K for third. Phillip "USCphildo" Collins and Cliff "JohnnyBax" Josephy both made headway in the online poker rankings (http://www.pocketfives.com/rankings) this week; landing at #5 and #6, respectively. Collins took home nearly $70K for his second place finish in the PokerStars $250K Guaranteed and "JohnnyBax" enjoyed a rankings boost thanks to second place showings in the PokerStars $1K Super Tuesday and $200 rebuy tournaments for a combined $98,700. "Therookieqq9" entered the rankings at #48 after his $233K cash on PartyPoker, while Germany's "bastet" moved all the way up to #53 after a final table appearance in the Full Tilt $1K Monday.
