New Poker Service Launches for Mac Users

The past year saw poker grow tremendously and this year is going to be even stronger with revenue for online poker expected to increase by almost 100% to $2 billion for 2005. There is however a group who against their will have been left out of easily enjoying this rediscovery of the great American past time; Mac users.



For a long time online poker players using Macs have had trouble enjoying their hobby due to most poker rooms only supporting Windows. Now a new service has launched with the aim of making it a bit easier for Mac users to check, fold, raise, call and hopefully win.



Internet Mac Poker founder and CEO Markus Sonermo had the following to say: "As a Mac user and recreational poker player myself I know how difficult it can be to find good places to play online. We hope to remedy this issue with the launch of Internet Mac Poker, gathering information on the poker rooms that actually do support us Mac users in one place."



In addition to guiding Mac users to online poker rooms the service also features poker news, strategy articles, and information about upcoming Mac poker tournaments in real time.



Apple's market share in the U.S. is still small but has grown to 4.5% compared to 3.7% a year ago. "Beware Windows users, in a hundred years there might be a need for a Windows Poker site so you can find poker rooms that still support your inferior OS.", added Internet Mac Poker director of marketing and Apple zealot Martin Dabrowski jokingly.
