After 10 Years Gay Rodeo Parties Return to San Francisco
After 10 years in San Jose and Palo Alto, the Best Buck in the Bay--San Francisco Bay Area's 14th Annual Gay Rodeo & Festival -- is pleased to announce that this year's host hotel will be in the heart of San Francisco. September 16-18, the Cathedral Hill Hotel at 1101 Van Ness Avenue will serve as home to the many visiting contestants and rodeo fans from throughout the United States and Canada. The hotel will also serve as the venue for the dances and parties that are a big part of "rodeo weekend."
On Friday, September 16th the weekend gets kicked off at the hotel with the "Rodeo Pool Party" beginning at 2 pm featuring high-energy country music and poolside drinks. In the early evening, everyone is encouraged to improve their two-step or waltz with the free dance lessons. Then at 8 pm that night, the first big party kicks off with the Western Warehouse Country Dance. It features great country-western dancing into the early morning hours in the main ballroom and when not dancing, all will be entertained by the sweet sounds of Nashville recording artist Steff Mahan off the mezzanine.
As contestants and spectators return from the rodeo grounds on Saturday, September 17th, San Francisco's premier radio station Energy 92.7 will take control of the sound board and kick out great dance music poolside for the "Rinse-Off Pool Party" from 3 to 7 pm. The party moves indoors at 8 pm for two distinct events in one location. In the ballroom will be one of the biggest country parties of the year -- the Southern Comfort "Buckin' Ball." For a dance alternative off the mezzanine, Finlandia presents "Rebellion" -- a high-energy dance party. Featured entertainment will alternate between the two rooms all night making this a can't-miss event.
"The non-stop festivities that comprise our
gay rodeo weekend are what make it such a unique experience in our community. You don't have to know a thing about rodeo, or even be a country music fan, to be entertained at our events. I'm thrilled we're bringing it back to the heart of San Francisco and I have a feeling
gay rodeo will find a whole lot of new fans within our community here!," said Eric Hanson, Mr. International Gay Rodeo Association 2004.
