At a time when the need for post high-school education is crucial Northeast Technical Institute (NTI) is making an effort to provide high school graduates the means to continue their education. In today's job market, specific skills are necessary for those looking for job security and fulfilling careers. At Northeast Technical Institute we specialize in short term, hands-on training that teaches students specific skills they can use in careers they can be proud of.

In 2008, NTI will offer Greater Portland and Bangor area high schools a total of $150,000 in scholarships for students that are looking to take the next step, but are not interested in attending a 4 year college. NTI recognizes that those who not able nor interested in going to school for 4 years represent a very important part of the economy and of the state's future. Providing options for these individuals is a top priority at NTI and for many years we have been able to provide training and job placement in months, rather than years.

Scholarship recipients may choose from a variety of programs in Allied Health (Clinical Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy and EKG Technician, Transcription, Health Information), Information Technology (Computer Repair, Network Administration, Network Security, and Internet Technology), Business Administration, and Commercial Driving (CDL A and CDL B). Many of these programs can be completed in 6 months and students may earn valued industry national certifications. Organizations utilize these certifications as a hiring benchmark in recruiting and to assess additional training. The Commercial Driver students train and earn their license in a matter of weeks.

Allied Health, Business and IT students can custom design a schedule to meet the demands of their busy lifestyle. NTI's "Flex-Train" method allows students to train at their own pace, receive one-on-one instruction, learn and retain information faster, and earn national certification. These programs begin each week, while Commercial Driving programs start each month.
