Oridion Systems Ltd. (SIX Swiss Exchange: ORIDN) today announced that it will present its newest capnography technology - Integrated Pulmonary Index (IPI) at the upcoming European Society of Anesthesiology Meeting (ESA) in Milan, Italy. IPI, integrates four complex parameters - end-tidal CO2 (etCO2), respiration rate, pulse rate and SpO2 (oxygen saturation) into a single index value so clinicians can quickly and easily assess a patient'ss ventilatory status.
IPI provides an early indication of changes in the patient'ss ventilatory status that may not be indicated by the current value of any of these four parameters individually. With IPI,
clinicians can quickly and easily assess a patient'ss ventilation status and monitor a patient'ss changing condition, thus facilitating more timely interventions to reduce patient risk,
improve outcomes and increase patient safety.
The Integrated Pulmonary Index will be introduced at the Capnography Symposium at the ESA Meeting on Sunday, June 7, 2009 between 12:15 - 13:45 at the Pink 3 hall, and at the Oridion
booth C-19. The symposium moderated by ESA President, Prof. Hans Knape from the University Medical Center of Utrecht will also include presentations on improved monitoring for patient
safety in sedation procedures by Profs. Baruch Krauss, Yaacov Gozal and Cor Kalkman. For more details, click here (http://www.oridion.com/global/english/news/Events/EAS2009.html).
Prof. Yaacov Gozal, from Shaare Zedek Medical Center will also present his new study, conducted with David Gozal, MD, entitled Validation of the Integrated Pulmonary Index in the Post
Anesthesia Care Unit. The study concluded that IPI has been shown to correlate with the respiratory status of adult patients after surgery. Since it is displayed as a single value, it may
simplify the monitoring of patients in a busy PACU.
IPI can be found only in Microstream Capnography equipped patient monitors, specifically in the Capnostream's8482;20 monitors. Oridion received an FDA 510(k) clearance for its
Capnostream's8482;20 monitor with Integrated Pulmonary Index earlier this year.
Oridion is the global leader of innovative capnography monitoring solutions helping to improve patient safety, and its Microstream's174; capnography technology has become the standard of
care in ventilation monitoring.
