Executive Coaching Finds a New Home Helping Leaders Who Help the Elderly



Award-winning executive coach Sylva Leduc will be speaking at the 2007 Annual Meeting and Exposition of AAHSA, the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging on a new topic not covered before in the industry - leadership coaching.



This year's event, in Orlando Florida, will include over 200 education sessions, for more than 7,000 attendees proving how AAHSA is committed to helping service providers in the aging services community. Those communities serve millions of individuals and their families every day by providing services people need, when they need them, in the place they call home. And since they are a not-for-profit association, every dime must be well spent.



Which is why this year's Annual Meeting and Exposition will include a presentation from an executive coach. And not just any executive coach. Sylva Leduc, founder of SageLeaders.com is well versed in the unique challenges faced by non-profits. When Child Care Resources of King County, WA needed to improve their bottom line, they turned to Leduc for answers. By utilizing coaching as a business strategy, they realized a 27% increase in revenues from their annual benefit luncheon and a 51% increase in funding via corporations and foundations. This accomplishment garnered Leduc the 2007 Puget Sound Coaching Association's inaugural Prism Award at their ceremony in Seattle, WA in June of this year.



"It's not just about increased funding, though that is always a plus," said Leduc. "It's also about the larger impact of bringing a team together, and how coaching helps them learn how to solve problems and get things done in the most effective way possible."



For the AAHSA 2007 Annual Meeting and Exposition, which takes place October 21-24, Leduc will be unveiling some of the basic principles of leadership coaching programs for upper-level and direct care staff in aging services organizations. The program, "Coaching Matters", will focus on how leaders are instrumental in increasing job satisfaction among staff and residents, and creating career pathways that aid in retention and recruiting efforts.



Leduc, along with fellow presenters Keli Swales and Mark A. Steele, will be addressing HR personnel, Executive Directors and Administrators who are directly involved with adult day services, home health, community services, senior housing, assisted living residences, continuing care retirement communities and nursing homes. The result will be a sort of ''coach the coaches'' effect. With the information received, management personnel will be able to create "coaching cultures" to positively affect work behaviors, reduce staff turnover, improve quality of care, and have an overall positive effect on the aging in our society.
