100 Made in New Jersey Gift Basket to Benefit Clean Ocean Action
May 4, 2005 -- Local gift basket business owner creates a 100% Made In New Jersey, gourmet gift basket, containing an amazing array of Jersey- made goodies and treats, and is donating 10% of the profits to Clean Ocean Action in order help keep area waters clean and pristine.
So how did this simple idea evolve into an effort to help improve the quality of New Jersey beaches and marine waters
Patrick Guba, owner of The Well-Bred Basket, a Red Bank gift basket business, had been thinking about creating a one- of- a kind gourmet gift basket featuring New Jersey made products. "For some time now, I have been telling clients and friends I was working on the idea and they have been asking me when I would begin to deliver."
"They all want to give the baskets as gifts to friends or family who are visiting the Jersey Shore or ship it to those who relocated and moved away the area and are in need of that good old familiar taste of New Jersey," the 35 year old Guba reports.
Wanting to create a unique selection, this New Jersey themed-basket contains a classic combination of products that the state is well known for: Saltwater Taffy from Atlantic City, Bahrs Lobster Bisque, Hoboken Eddie's Steak Sauce, as well as Blueberry Butter, Cranberry Granola, and more. "To personalize, I can add a Pork Roll or a Springsteen CD, and during harvest time, I'll be happy to include farm-fresh produce that has branded us as the Garden State," Guba added.
Guba, a life-long resident of the New Jersey Shore, who is married and the father of a three year old, feels compelled to start helping out in his own way to preserve our wonderful waters and beaches. "I want to give something back to the community that would be beneficial to the residents of New Jersey and the environment alike; and what better way than to help financially support Clean Ocean Action."
"This great organization's actions and results speak for themselves," says Guba. Through their outreach, volunteers have removed millions of pieces of debris from our beaches. "I have always supported them and now I plan to do it through my business." I love the way Cindy Zipf, COA's Executive Director put it, "Like our ocean, New Jersey is a bountiful state, rich in great people, food and cultures."
For 15 years, The Well-Bred Basket has been the gift basket resource for both individual consumers and corporate accounts. The Well- Bred Basket is the gift provider of choice used by Scripps Network, the parent company of; The Food Network, Home & Garden Television, Fine Living, and DIY network.
