Giantmicrobes has the Clap and the Pox

Toy manufacturer Giantmicrobes is pleased to announce the introduction of two new plush dolls: The Clap (Gonorrhea) and The Pox (Syphilis). The two new dolls add to the GIANTmicrobes line of health dolls, which includes Common Cold, Flu, and Stomach Ache, as well as such favorites as Ebola and Black Death.



GIANTmicrobes are plush dolls that look like real microbes, over a million times actual size. The "infectiously cute" Giantmicrobes were originally conceived as an educational tool. However, their popularity has grown as collectors have responded to their humor as well.



"Sexual health is always an awkward topic, particular to a young teenage audience," says founder Drew Oliver. "Health educators - including amateur health educators, also known as parents - find the toys make difficult topics much more approachable, and literally puts a face on an otherwise abstract and scary concept."
