LPGA Golf Returns to Historic Charleston and is Hosted by Annika Sorenstam

Annika Sorenstam's annual Ginn Tribute Hosted by ANNIKA returns to the RiverTowne Country Club in Mt. Pleasant from May 26-June 1. With a $2.6 million purse, last year's player field included all of the top 50 players in the Rolex World Rankings and 94 of the top 100. A similar turnout is expected for 2008. This year's honoree, Beth Daniel, is a native Charlestonian with a 29-year career in golf that includes induction into the LPGA Tour and World Golf Halls of Fame. A former Touring Pro for Seabrook Island, Daniel is currently a commentator on the Golf Channel. Host Annika Sorenstam made history in 2003 as the first woman to play in a men's PGA Tour event and was inducted into the World Golf and LPGA Halls of Fame the same year. She has the distinction of being the only female golfer to have shot a 59 in competition.
