Grande Dunes Members Course Architect Nick Price Receives Prestigious Bob Jones Award
January 26, 2005 -- PGA TOUR Hall of Fame golfer and Grande Dunes Members Course architect Nick Price has been awarded the United States Golf Association's Bob Jones Award for 2005. The award is given for distinguished sportsmanship.
The much-anticipated Members Club Course, designed by Price and award winning architect Craig Schreiner, is expected to open in 2005.
The private course is a par 71 that measures 7,048 yards from the championship tees. It features L93 Bent grass greens and TifSport Bermuda grass fairways and teeing areas. Its pearl white bunkers are filled with Felspar Quartz sand and water comes into play on eight holes.
Accompanying the Members Club will be a 27,000-square-foot Italianate Clubhouse. A full-service golf shop, a bistro, casual grill, full-service dining room, private members library with full bar and fireplace, and private board rooms will be available for members' use.
The Members Club at Grande Dunes offers 176 home sites, with approximately 50 home sites along the Intracoastal Waterway. Housing discreetly borders eight holes on the front nine, and quaint cottages are planned along the 9th and 18th holes in the tradition of Augusta National.
